    Description

    Calcite fluorescent mineral, Franklin NJ.  Large hand-sized specimen of calcite, with grains of pyrite and franklinite.  Unusual “multi-wavelength” calcite, fluorescent red in shortwave UV light; the calcite fluoresces both red and purple under midwave UV, more purple under longwave UV light.  Unlike a lot of these specimens, this one shows the full range of fluorescent response throughout the rock.


    Big cabinet specimen, measures 6 inches x 4 x 3 inches, and weighs 4 pounds.
