00 Million Years Old 124.8 Grams. This stone is a cap of this type of coral which has been acid etched reveiling the
form which this once had without the outer stone matrix attached. This type of coral which is filled with quartz and calcite and makes good lapidary material. This stone can easily be brought to a high shine with the right tools.  In the field the heads of these extinct type fossil corals look mushroom-like and some colonies are over a foot across. This coral is still unidentified by me. It has wrinkles and is solitary like a rugose coral but has tiny colonies all over the surface like a tabulate coral. This coral is from Upper Pennsylvanian Era limestone 290-300 million years old.
This specimen is the cap of the skelatal coral structure, a stem came up under the middle of the cap in some rarely found specimens of this type. This stone is good for collection, display, study, or other purpose. The
stone pictured is the one you will receive.
