HOBO NICKEL - "EmotiCOIN #24" - hand carved modern hobo nickel by Buzzardjaws. My name is Duane Caldwell and I am a registered carving member of the Original Hobo Nickel Society (OHNS) , member #RM 1430. All coins sold by me are original hand carved coins, "one of a kind" (OOAK), and are NOT stamped out, minted or 'pressed'. The one thing that makes my coins different from most other modern carvers is that I keep alive the old classic style of carving nickels by using ONLY hand made tools, mostly made from hardened masonry nails.  NO power tools are used in my carvings, such as Dremel, rotary power tools or vibrating engraver tools.
I have coined the term "EmotiCOINS" to describe this coin, and many others similar to it that I have been caving lately.  I do not "OWN" that word, but I would appreciate it if other carvers would refrain from using it if you decide to copy my idea. (yOU WANT TO CALL YOURS EmojiCOIN??... C'MON, THAT'S TOO CLOSE)
I use my own technique to put what I call a "holographic" effect on each coin, so that the image will look different as you rotate it in the light. Sometimes it will look like a highlighted face design with a dark background, and as you rotate it in the light it will change to a dark face with a highlighted background. The photographs show the difference, but still photos cannot show the change it makes as you move it in your hand. In your hand, the effect is quite awesome.
Get your own favorite face on the coin, or give one to someone you know who is 'always' using emojis in their texts or posts.!
