Large Fluorescent Sphalerite, Pink, Blue & Orange, Ogdensburg, NJ #24 LW & SW

Description

A large, heavy sphalerite specimen with willemite and franklinite. The silvery green sphalerite can be clearly seen in the daylight photos. The sphalerite is fluorescent under both shortwave and longwave UV. The sphalerite fluoresces pink and orange under longwave UV (photos 1-5) The sphalerite has a good pink/orange response under shortwave(photos 6 & 7). Also present is a small amount of willemite which fluoresces green. The black mineral is franklinite, which is non-fluorescent. Collected in Franklin, NJ. Size: 4" x 3-1/2" x 2-1/2". Weight is 4 lbs. 13 oz.  or 2190 grams.
