If you are new to fluorescent minerals  or stamp tagging, this lamps shortwave ultraviolet output is a great way to get started into these hobbies.  Our lamps INCLUDE the expensive optical filter you need to block out the visible light that is made by the bulb. Unscrupulous Ebay sellers try and sell these lamps without the filter (CHINA).  You absolutely need the filter to see the fluorescent response in rocks and stamps.  Please review our Feedback's and buy from us with confidence!
Did you know 90% of fluorescent minerals need a shortwave UV lamp in order to glow.  The other 10% will only glow under longwave (aka blacklight).
STAMP COLLECTORS:   All current and many older stamps have been tagged with a special invisible phosphor which can be seen only under shortwave or longwave UV.  Countries use this special phosphor to help them automate the process of moving letters to the right part of the country.  By placing the letter upright the optical machines can read the zip code properly and routes letters where they need to go.  Much more efficient than having a person hand read zip codes.  We are also told the value of certain stamps can greatly increase if they do or do not have the phosphor on the stamp itself.
FLUORESCENT MINERAL COLLECTORS: Our M12 model lamp is a very affordable specimen lamp that has very decent output for its size.  Shortwave UV lamps are not cheap style blacklight lamps. What makes them expensive is the optical filter needed to block visible light.  We receive many customers who learn the hard way that a blackight lamp will not suffice when wanting to collect fluorescent rocks or stamps.    Please also visit our website at uvtools if you are interested in higher wattage lamps or fluorescent mineral specimens.  We have been in business since 2002 and have served thousands of happy customers!
