Description
Small World War II Paper Archive for Staff Sgt. Donald P. Connelly, who served on New Britain Island, in the South Pacific. According to the hand-written medical assessment, Sgt. Connelly suffered some sort of heart-related medical episode. This was forwarded to Major Dan W. Fisher, his commanding officer from his unit in New Britain, South Pacific. The handwriting was written with an unsteady hand, which makes you wonder what conditions was this written in? In his reply, he recommends that Sgt. Connelly be transferred to the states for further testing, and further vouches for his character. We also have his US Army Honorable Discharge, as well as a letter from the Veterans Administration in 1946, awarding him a pension for disability. Overall, an interesting grouping for a medic who served in the Pacific, and was subsequently discharged for disability. Definitely unusual! The papers remain in good condition, showing signs of age. Bent corners, folds, and age toning is evident. Please see the pictures for more detail.
